The rigorous and unscrupulous demands sports put on the body are undeniable, and seemingly increasing. As it relates to the higher levels of sport, the accumulation of sheer volume and repetition alone is a cumbersome thing to manage. But from the pros, all the way down to the youth level (especially in today’s world), sports and training break the body down. Staying in the green offers an adaptive framework for how we can better support the demands of sport for our athletes.

Injuries are an inevitable element of sport, and for most athletes, will present at some point or another. Injuries arise in many forms, and as I covered in a previous article overall injury rates do not appear to be improving in sport by any means. Examining the data there is a clear consensus that we are missing something, as injury rates across virtually all major sports and spanning all levels of competition appear to be trending in a concerning direction.Rather than examining this issue as

The evolutions of basketball over the last decade have been transcendent, and with few exceptions have been occurred more rapidly than any other sport in recent history. As we have seen basketball shift towards a positionless model, athletes have demonstrated an incredible ability to be adaptable by expanding their skillset to meet these demands. Where for decades we saw clear delineation between Centers/Forwards/Guards, and specific body types to meet those positional requirements, we now see a

OpeningReturn to play (RTP) is a unique endeavor, and there are several variables that collectively determine what this process looks like. Apart from your title (credentialing and licensing), your setting, resources, and training availability/frequency will all largely dictate this process. Now my tenth year as a strength coach, and despite never deliberately setting out to do so, almost my entire career has been centered around working with injured athletes. This includes everything from high

The head and neck are vital for performance, yet for some reason, are often overlooked in considerations for programming and performance preparation. In most cases, the greatest extent of “neck specific” focus we see in training is multi-directional neck isometrics in some football and combat sport settings. Beyond that? Pretty sparse. It would be a cliché understatement for me to say there’s more for us to be cognizant of, but the fact is the neck really is one of the more sophisticated- and in
