Welcome to the weightlifting blog section of our site. There are a few things I want to bring to your attention as you continue to read through the articles and check out the content on here. As an assistant coach for East Coast Gold Weightlifting, we have a certain dialect that we use when discussing and cueing the lifts. These ideas follow the same principles of USA Weightlifting, however, some of the verbiage that we use is different. In order for us to be on the same page, I want to make sure that you understand what I mean when I say certain phrases in my articles and programming. Here is a quick guide through the lifts, their positions, and the intention behind specific cues.
Watch the slow motion of the clean pull and note the positions the bar passes through (separation, above the knee, below the knee, and the top of the drive). You can also see the knees switch back under the bar to drive the bar upward.
